CHALLENGE
Turning Static Browsing into Engagement

Hotel booking platforms often feel static and transactional. Users scroll through endless listings, photos, and amenities with little context or emotional connection.

As a result, CTR and booking remain low and users abandon early. We saw an opportunity to reimagine this experience, helping customers find what matters most to them while increasing engagement and conversion.

APPROACH
Understanding How Travelers Explore and Book

In a fast-paced startup environment, we rapidly ideated, prototyped, and validated with stakeholders and three partner hotels, while drawing insights from market research and competitive platforms like TikTok.

We discovered that travelers engage most with visual, bite-sized content, feel more confident with personalized experiences and early prototypes confirmed the concept’s appeal.

We created Pathways, a swipeable, short-form discovery experience that transforms hotel browsing into an engaging, personalized journey.

Travelers explore rooms, amenities, and experiences through visual stories, while contextual CTAs guide them naturally toward booking.

Pathways integrates seamlessly into the platform’s content delivery system. It acts as a dynamic surface that brings together imagery, motion, and interactivity to showcase the character and experience of each hotel.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Menus act as decision points within Pathways, transforming a linear story into a personalized journey. As travelers progress through a Pathway, Menus appear as interactive moments where they can choose what to explore next.

By giving users agency and control, Menus create a “choose-your-own-adventure” experience that adapts in real time to their preferences

At the end of each Pathway, the Recap Screen acts as a summary hub, surfacing a personalized recap of all the content they've explored.

Designed for Everyone

Accessibility is a core priority across leading hotel platforms, and Pathways was built to meet the same high standards. From keyboard navigation and screen reader support to strong contrast, every interaction was designed to be usable and welcoming for all travelers. By aligning with WCAG best practices, Pathways ensures every user can explore and book with confidence.

RESULTS
How Pathways Moved the Needle

Pathways launched to strong early adoption and enthusiastic feedback from hotel partners. All initial customers reported 100% satisfaction, praising the ease of integration and the clear uplift in engagement. Early metrics showed promising improvements in CTR, time on site, and booking intent, confirming that the interactive, personalized format resonated with travelers.
